After installing a Tuya smart switch, the next step is to connect it to the right app and voice assistant. This guide explains pairing, Alexa and Google Home setup, and the smart scenes that make the switch genuinely useful.
Step 1: Add the Switch to the Tuya Smart App
Make sure your phone is connected to a 2.4GHz WiFi network during setup. Open the Tuya Smart app, tap the plus button, and follow the in-app pairing steps for your switch. Zigbee switches must be added to a paired Tuya Zigbee gateway first.
Step 2: Connect Alexa
Open the Alexa app, add the Tuya Smart skill, and sign in with the same account used in the Tuya Smart app. After discovery, the switch appears as a controllable device. You can then say commands such as “turn on the living room light” or “turn off all lights.”
Step 3: Connect Google Home
In the Google Home app, add the Tuya Smart service and link your account. Google Assistant can then control the switch by room name and include it in routines with lights, plugs, and other Tuya devices.
Useful Smart Scenes and Schedules
Create a morning scene that turns on selected lights, a bedtime scene that turns off all downstairs lights, and an away scene that cycles lights for presence simulation. Schedules can also be based on sunrise, sunset, or a fixed time.
Automate with Sensors and Other Tuya Devices

Troubleshooting Voice Control
If Alexa or Google Home cannot find the switch, confirm the switch is online in the Tuya Smart app and that both apps use the same account. Restart discovery and, if needed, unlink and relink the Tuya Smart skill or service.
